Limitations of Imitation

2012

Medium: Installation

Dimensions: Various

Location: Mirta Demare Gallery, Rotterdam, the Netherlands

What if you are stuck and all of your creative juices are dried up? What if all you are thinking of is a warm bathtub in which you want to lay, but you do not allow yourself to do just that? The solution can be to build a construction, complicated enough so that once you manage to finalize it and climb on top of it, as a reward you can lay in the bathtub placed all the way up there.

Or instead of filling that bathtub, you experiment with a large piece of paper holding water in it. Later, when the work is exhibited in the gallery, you ask the gallerist to water that work every day, very gently as paper and water usually do not go hand in hand.
